What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a condition in which the brain does not properly recieve what the eyes see, or what the ears hear. Balance and movement scense may be altered and scense of time may either be significantly sped up or slowed down. Dyslexia is a result of the way the brain is wired. This condition makes it difficult for individuals to process words, sounds and numbers accuratly. Someone with dyslexia may also find it difficult to remember specific words and word sequences; such as, the months of the year, days of the week, etc. Dyslexics also have difficulty organizing their thoughts and putting them into words, memorizing information, understanding a litteral meaning rather than an intended meaning, and may precieve letters and numbers reversed.

Although there seems to be many disadvantages to having dyslexia, Davis Dyslexia Association International

views it as a gift. People who have dyslexia are very visual, creative and imaginative individuals. They excell in fine arts, sports, engeneering, preforming arts, etc. There is no cure for dyslexia; however, this program provides a safe inviornment for learning in order to equip tools to help control the disorientations. When the disorientations are controled with these tools, it allows dyslexics to perceive learning accurately, which promotes success.
